Weekly Harvest

In modern agriculture, the idea of "sustainable agriculture" has taken firm hold over the last 20 years, especially as more consumers accept and pay for organic foods, grown and processed without chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides or preservatives. This newsletter covers a broad range of hot topics in sustainable ag, from acceptable chemicals to farmland preservation to school lunches.

Weekly Harvest is published by the Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas, part of the National Center for Appropriate Technology with links to the USDA's Rural Business Cooperative Service. This mix of private nonprofit and U.S. government funds underscores the newsletter's broad range of interests, some of which clash from time to time. Still, the newsletter is intended to educate rather than to politicize.

If you have any connection to or interest in sustainable agriculture, organics, food and farm policy, land preservation or rural economics in general, this newsletter will keep you on top of the news, grant programs and educational seminars.
